On Sunday 8th January, the church at Magill farewelled Steve Blacket, their Senior Minister of 9 years, as he prepared to move to South Sudan for the next 12 months as an extension of the work commenced while minister at Magill.
Currently Steve has delayed his entry into South Sudan given the current tensions and will stay in Ethiopia to review the situation before continuing with his mission.
Check out Steve's web page and in particular "Projects/Project Updates" to see what he is up to and how you can show your support.

From time to time we plan to include the Sunday message from our guest speakers. Below you will find a link to a message from Brian Phelps who is one of our members at Magill and who has assisted our churches in a number of interim ministries as he does now through the Pastoral Care ministry at Magill. Brian's message centres on the Bible verses John 15: 1-8 - "The Real Vine"
Brian's message has also been added to our "Audio Messages" link. Take the time to listen, reflect and to sense God as you listen to these messages.
The latest message that we have added was -

Food for Thought - There are no easy terms |
|
Did you hear about the lad who, during the school holidays, went into a store and wanted what they had advertised in the window? There appeared to be some confusion as he pointed out the sign that said 'Easy Terms Arranged'. Unfortunately his school would not cooperate!
There is sometimes confusion about the 'terms' involved in being a Christian. The Apostle Paul likens it to an Olympic race, or even fighting in a boxing match!
He is right. The Christian life requires determination, discipline, courage and endurance. So what about the old gospel song which says, "Salvation is free", and the doctrine that God accepts us because of our faith and not our works.?
The answer is that God does offer forgiveness and a new life free of charge. We enter the Christian life on the easiest of terms possible. Someone else paid. But to live the Christian life requires all that we can put into it, plus the help from above which alone makes it possible.
It is something like the situation of a young man who receives the free gift of a farm. What an enormous gift! But the acceptance and appreciation of that gift will require him to work on it for the rest of his life. That won't be easy and he will need all the help he can get.
Such are the terms involved in being a Christian.
